The Mission:  Equip the Maternity Center at the Katandala Health Clinic to provide 24 maternity beds and 3 delivery rooms, at least one with C-section capabilities.  Supply needed equipment to the Dr. Altman Memorial Hospital and the Namanyere Hospital to improve lab, pediatric, surgical, and other areas of service and to improve access to care and health education for the region.  Upgrade status of each facility, with economic impact for the region.

The Goal: We hope to send three, 40 foot shipping containers filled with selected, donated, functioning medical equipment to these facilities; prioritizing Kantandala Clinic.  Operational instructions included.

The Cost: Approximately $25000 - $30000 per container, including shipping from US to Tanzania.  In country customs and delivery costs would be provided by in-country partners.  Each container can hold about $400,000 of donated equipment selected by a needs assessment for the region and by Sr.Helena.

Welcome! We Are HHOP — Health Humanitarian Outreach Project.

HHOP is a 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization established in 1996 by the Michigan Rotary Clubs of Grand Haven, Holland, Muskegon, and Spring Lake; all in District 6290. HHOP partners with Rotary Clubs from across the country, NGOs and church groups to accomplish its mission

Rotary Rose Bowl Float.

Work has been done in Jamaica, Haiti, and Honduras. HHOP has supported and administered projects in Africa.

Most recently, the emphasis has been installing bio-sand water Rotary-logo-rzfilters in the remote mountain villages outside San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Yearly, an HHOP sponsored work group travels to Honduras to work with the Usula Club and install filters in homes. Donations and grants have been used to buy filters and sand. Besides HHOP sponsored work trips, a HHOP sponsored warehouse in Honduras has enabled these filters to be sold to NGOs and church groups for their own mission trips to other parts of Honduras.

Money to buy filters is an ever present need. Over 1,000 filters have been installed in this mountain location but several more thousand are needed. These filters have helped reduce the mortality rate of children under 5 from 65% to 45%. Families report that they do not have stomach and diarrhea problems anymore. We know these filters are making these poor mountain people healthier! HHOP has other projects, both past and present. We are excited to share our story with you. Come along side us and help make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
